While the response for participation has been amazing this year, the call for volunteers hasn’t. This has both it’s up-sides and down-sides. It means more players, and better prizes, but it also means more work on the core individuals who run the League and day-to-day activities.

Unfortunately, from now until early January I will be traveling out of province a great deal, and I won’t be able to participate in the day-to-day activities that keep the League going every week.

Because everyone I’ve talked with still wants the League to go on no matter what, we have decided to postpone the start of the League from lave November to early January 2010. This too has pros and cons. It is understandable if the schedule shift causes some of you some issues, so please email me or see Gord at Xtreme-Tactics, and we can work it out.

Last year we offered a new “pre-pay” option that was universally adopted by all players.  Seeing as it was such a success, this year’s fees will be “pre-pay” only – unless special exceptions need to be made.

Also, last year the League was once again run at a loss.  This is taking a huge toll on my family, and while Xtreme Tactics has done everything possible to keep costs low, events like the wind-up BBQ, CQB Challenge, and wind-down party at the end of the year have all been paid out of pocket by me, and other CQB League volunteers.

It’s pretty disturbing to see comments indicating the league is a “money grab”, or implying that I (or other people) run this to make money.  See below for the cost breakdown, and what this year’s Grand Prize will be.

007 Airsoft was gracious enough to offer the Grand Prizes last year at a substantial discount to the League – last minute at that – and because of this, the League was a success.  This year, Xtreme Tactics expanded their own Airsoft Retail Store to include KJW GBB pistols, and G&G AEGs.

I’m proud to announce that this year, the Grand Prize will not be a GBB pistol.

Xtreme Tactics and Airsoft Manitoba have partnered to give each member of the winning team a FREE G&G AEG from Canadian Airgun Supply.

Players from the winning team can choose between any of the following AEGs:

The “pre-pay” fees this year will be $150 game fees, plus the usual $50 Registration fee for the League, for a total of $200.

You are guaranteed 10 games this season, and any additional games your team earns in the playoffs will be free.

Last year, we charged $180 total (pre-paid) and we delivered KJW GBB pistols.  This year, you can win G&G AEGs from Xtreme Tactics!  A small price increase, for a much better grand prize.  We are also working on additional prizes and rewards for events throughout the season.

Also remember, the League is for people of all skill levels.  The first year we had the CQB League, the champions were Strike Force Ares – a team comprised entirely of players new to the sport.  If you don’t have a team, but still want to play, lone guns will be partnered up with other players and teams looking for an extra gun.

We are also offering CQB training for players of all skill levels.  Topics include:

• Room clearing
• Communication
• Movement & Coordination
• Determining Tactical Priority
• Drills
• MUCH more!

Remember to fill out the Preliminary Signup Form to indicate your interest in the League.  Oct 31st will mark the close of Preliminary Signup, and we will begin taking registrations.

That’s over 1 month notice – so save up – this year is going to be awesome.

Lastly, if you are interested in the League, but can’t commit the time to play every day – we are looking for mature and responsible volunteers.  Your participation is voluntary, and it will give you valuable experience within our Province’s Airsoft Communities.  Please contact me for more information.

The 2009-2010 CQB League is winding up, and for us to start the planning, we need show of hands.

If you intend on participating in the CQB League this year, please fill out the Preliminary Signup Form.

The CQB League Rules have not changed from last year, so feel free to check out the rules page.  Teams will once again be 3-4 man (or woman!) teams.

Silky Smooth and The SUITS faught each other so hard, the game went into a 5-minute “overtime” game to decide the victor.  Ultimately, gun problems gave The SUITS too many problems to battle back from.  Silky Smooth capitalized on the problems, winning deciseively in the extra time.

Both games were well-faught, and all four teams deserve to win.  Next Wednesday will determine who wins the Grand Prize (which just arrived today – and man, they’re sexy)!

Congratulations, and Thanks goes to every player, referee, volunteer, and to the people at Xtreme-Tactics for making this Season possible.

What (from the Operation Cold Front website):

This will be a training event/evaluation for people who are unknown to us in Manitoba that would like to attend Operation Cold Front. Even if you are known to us your more than welcome to attend and participate in the days events and exercise.

The first part of this event will cover some of the following but not limited to:
- Milsim game preparation
- Fire and Movement
- CQB operations
- And more

The second part of Operation Robin Sage will have participants take part in an exercise to make use of the skills learned earlier in the day.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
- warm shirt
- rain jacket
- extra socks
- extra t-shirt
- boots
- food
- water
- AEG (Preferably a carbine or rifle, SMG will also do, LMG is discourage because you don’t really need to reload)
- Batteries for the day (We are going to fire a lot of rounds)
- BBs (We are going to fire a lot of rounds)
- Magazines (At least 4, NO HIGH CAPS)
- Some form of gear to hold magazines
- Eye protection
- ruck sack or day pack
- Change of boots/shoes for after
- spare batteries(depending if you think one battery won’t last the entire time)
